For the longest time the world has been on a dangerous path of not truly valuing anything other than the tangible items like personal property and money in the form of cash. While it is true that items like cash personal belongings can be spent or traded for other items of value people forget the most valuable item we all have.

Time Is Money

Time is the one item that you have a finite amount of in life. One we spend a moment we never get that very moment back and even thinking about the loss of it only takes up more precious time. When working from home many of us take time for granted and do not invest it as well as we should. Whether it be starting a bit late or checking in and out to deal with at home business items we all do less when working from home. During times like these where we are stuck working from home it is time now to hold yourself accountable so that in the future you do not look back and wish you could get this time back.

Time Blocking

Time blocking is by far one of business’s best kept secrets. I am not sure it is even a secret or more just a failure to launch or stick with it by people. Time blocking is when you take your schedule and set certain times for certain work behaviors. One thing that is crucial in making time blocking work is to stay focused on what the time block is specifically for. This means put down the distractions like the cell phone or Facebook and just focus to get the work done. When working in time blocking another important thing to keep in mind is ensuring family knows and respects your time while you are time blocking. Putting this practice in place is sure to get your productivity up in no time.

Setting goals is a great way to know if you are keeping on track or falling off and failing. It is easy to avoid setting goals because if we do not have goals, we have nothing to feel bad about when we are not meeting our life expectations. The issue with this is that allows us to always be OK with where we are versus thinking about where we should be and how we can get there.  Using S.M.A.R.T. goals is a great way to ensure you are getting the most out of your everyday. S.M.A.R.T. stands for Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time Based. Putting these goals in place is sure to get you more for the time you are already spending.

Love Your Time

Time is such an asset that is always undervalued. While you are stuck in the house during this whole crisis and in future crises instead of bundling up and hunkering down start using that time. Is it that you need to study more, spend more time with family, start a new project, or anything else on your mind? Now is a great time to take on each one of these things and allocate this extra time you have at home to get it done.
